KIDS MARTIAL ARTS IN BRENHAM, TX

Confidence and focus your kid practices every week, with no punching or kicking.

Judo and Jiu-Jitsu for kids ages 3–5 and 6+, taught as one program. Falling safely comes first, and parents can watch every class. The first class is free.

01 · WHY GRAPPLING

WHAT PARENTS ACTUALLY WANT FROM MARTIAL ARTS.

Most parents aren't looking for a fighter. They want a kid who stands a little taller, listens a little better, and burns off energy somewhere other than the living room. Judo and Jiu-Jitsu are built for all three, because every class is hands-on: kids move, partner up and solve problems with their whole body.

There's no punching and no kicking in either art. Kids learn to keep their balance, break a grab and hold a position without hurting anyone. That builds a different kind of confidence: the calm kind, that doesn't need to prove anything.

Our kids program is designed as a kids program, not a shrunk-down adult class. Little ones and school-age kids train in separate classes, so every kid trains with kids their own age. Judo teaches them to stay on their feet and fall safely. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches them to stay calm and think their way out when they end up on the ground.

02 · WHAT THEY LEARN

WHAT YOUR KID WILL LEARN AND PRACTICE.

Every skill is broken into small steps and practiced with a partner, class after class, until it sticks.

  • 01

    Falling safely

Breakfalls come first, before a single throw. It's one of the most useful things a kid can learn, on the mat, on a bike or on the playground.

  • 02

    Balance and coordination

Grips, posture and footwork that show up in every other sport they play.

  • 03

    Breaking a grab

What to do when someone grabs a sleeve or a wrist: how to break free, get away and get to a grown-up.

  • 04

    Staying calm under pressure

Jiu-Jitsu puts kids in tricky spots on purpose, then teaches them to breathe and think their way out.

  • 05

    Listening and focus

Listening the first time, waiting your turn, taking care of your partner. Small habits, practiced every class.

  • 06

    Walking away

The goal is never a fight. Kids practice staying calm and walking away, and they learn they have options if walking away isn't enough.

05 · QUESTIONS

STRAIGHT ANSWERS.

What age can kids start martial arts?

Here, age 3. Ages 3–5 and ages 6+ are separate classes, so every kid trains with kids their own age.

Is Judo or Jiu-Jitsu better for kids than karate?

They're different, not better. Karate and Taekwondo focus on strikes. Judo and Jiu-Jitsu focus on balance, grips and control, with no punching or kicking. Many parents like that their kid learns to handle a grab or a push without hitting anyone.

Will my child learn to fight?

They'll learn to stay balanced, break a grab and control a position. They also practice staying calm and walking away, because the goal is never a fight. More on that on our self-defense page.

Is it safe for young kids?

Falling safely is the first thing we teach, before a single throw, and every class has a coach whose only job is watching the room. Kids don't spar on day one.

What should my child wear?

A t-shirt and athletic pants. No shoes on the mat, and bring water. Gear comes later, and we'll talk you through it at your first visit.

Can I watch my child's class?

Yes, every class.

How much do kids classes cost?

Your first class is free, with no card and no contract to walk in. Founding-member pricing goes to the founding list before anyone else, so claim your free class to hear it first.
